I'm not a political person by any stretch of the imagination but I am a lover of history especially American history. I guess I can liken this historic event to the glimmer of hope people felt with other great icon's like Dr. Martin Luther King, JFK, Gandhi, etc. Not saying that President Obama is anything like those other men it's just the way I can describe the emotion I felt watching the new President being sworn in. In conclusion I feel that we are in for better times and a "happier" more productive America, better foreign policies and a return to a more promising tomorrow. God Bless America and all the good that is to come.

Straight from the hip
I know that I'm a bit late on responding to the Inauguration of President Obama but I actually had to DVR the ceremony because of other obligations. I finally had a chance to sit and watch it in complete silence and I have to say that I am happy with being a part of history. Casting my vote for Obama back in November, I knew he would win over Sen. McCain but it never really dawned on me the impact his election would cause. To see the Mall filled with Americans of every race, color and creed coming together to welcome a change in leadership over the free world had me awe struck. I felt his speech was straight forward and more to the point of what he'd like to begin doing, what he has planned and to the results he's hoping we can accomplish in the foreseeable future.
